I saw T3 on the weekend. My verdict? Save your money. It’s just not very good. I wasn’t expecting a whole lot, given the absence of both Linda Hamilton and James Cameron, but I guess I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised. I wasn’t. Special effects have apparently become a lot more expensive in 12 years because, in my opinion, T3 looks a whole lot less impressive than T2. Part of it, I’m sure, had to do with the “evil” Terminator — Kristanna Loken had the whole fixed-gaze single-minded look down pat, but she’s simply not as intimidating as Robert Patrick was in T2. Mr. Cranky suggests that it’s because she’s too attractive, but I don’t think that’s quite right (the she is attractive). Between the not-quite-intimidating enough “evil” terminator, and the whiny-self-pitying bitch John Connor, the movie was just desperately drab. And, you know, I’ve never been bored in a Terminator movie, even watching T2 for the fifth or sixth time it’s still entertaining. T3 left me bored. Often.

As I’m entering this, I’m listening to the new Mogwai album, “Happy Music for Happy People”, and it’s just draining away all my vitriol. It’s such a magnificent album it defies description. Trust me on this, just go out and buy it. You won’t regret it. Here’s a taste – the video for the album opener: Hunted By A Freak.
