Well, I didn’t get to go see Spearhead in Ottawa on Thursday night, but I did get to see them here, in Toronto, at the Opera House yesterday. I don’t think I’ve ever had that much fun at a concert. Certainly not in recent memory, anyway. There was a tremendous positive vibe at the show, and I really enjoyed it. And the music! Influences drawn from all over – Latin America, Africa, New Orleans, hiphop and even blues. It’s not normally the kind of music I listen to, but it’s so infectious that I can’t imagine anyone not being swept away by it. At the end of the show Michael Franti entered the crowd and just talked to fans, giving everyone a hug and a Namaskar. He comes across as a very geniune, very warm and caring person – I’m so glad I went to this show. I have to thank my dear friend Kourosh Farrokhzad, and his sister Kathy for telling me about the show and sharing the event with me. I have to say this – unless the universe conspires against me, I’ll never miss another Spearhead show in the area again.
