Tarantino’s Mind

Sunday, July 27th, 2008

Short film starring A Life Aquatic’s Seu George in which a film buff claims to have broken Quentin Tarantino’s code. Brilliant.

Oh yeah!

The very first review for the PSP version of n+ (the game I just finished working on) is up. Now, I’d never heard of GamingBits before, so take the review as you will, but it’s nice to see that all the pain and overtime is meeting with positive feedback. n+ for Sony PSP and Nintendo DS hits the stores on August 12th.

Edit: The street date for n+ is actually August 26th.

HAHAHAHAHAHA

I just saw a TV ad for the new Def Leppard album, and I haven’t laughed so hard in ages. The big draw, the “featuring” line on the ad? “Featuring country superstar Tim McGraw!”

HAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

One of the biggest hair metal bands of the 1980s is reduced to having a COUNTRY singer do a cameo to sell their album!

Yet MORE music news

I just stumbled across One Day as a Lion, the new project featuring Rage Against the Machine’s Zack de la Rocha, and ex-Mars Volta drummer Jon Theodore. There’s a single song available for preview on the band’s myspace page (it’s stunning) and the EP will be in stores on the 22nd of this month. It’s good to hears Zack’s lyrics again – he never fails to provoke thought.

Best Summer for Concerts Ever

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

Just looking at the upcoming concerts in iConcertCal, and it looks like this summer is one of the best summers for concerts ever. Check it out:

  • July 27 – Metric
  • August 5 – Nine Inch Nails
  • August 15 – Radiohead
  • September 5 – Tortoise
  • September 5 – Spiritualized
  • September 13 – The Dandy Warhols
  • September 25 – My Bloody Valentine
  • October 1 – Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds
  • October 7 – Pinback

Now the $20,000 question – which ones to go to?

MBV

Wednesday, July 16th, 2008

After a decade-plus long absence, the mighty My Bloody Valentine are back, and they’re playing in Toronto on September 25th! They’re playing the Ricoh Coliseum, which kind-of sucks – I almost always refuse to go to large venues to see concerts anymore. However, just as I made an exception when I saw Dead Can Dance at Massey Hall, I’m making one for MBV, because I don’t think there will be too many, if any, chances to see them again.

I’m actually giddy about this concert – I’ve loved MBV since I first heard “Isn’t Anything” back in 1988, but never got to see them live. Now, I finally get my chance.
